Online Students

A Lamar University education is possible even for undergraduate and graduate students who are unable to make regular trips to campus. LU’s online programs are especially popular for working adults and active duty military personnel. As part of the State of Texas Grad TX program, LU offers multiple flexible degree completion programs designed to help students return to college and earn a bachelor's degree. Younger students interested in earning college and high school credit at the same time also benefit from LU's online programs.

Students can choose from a variety of courses offered through online/distance education, including the complete core curriculum and upper-level classes from almost every department. Several undergraduate and graduate degrees may be completed entirely through online/distance education.

Accelerated Schedules

Through Lamar University Academic Partnerships, online students can take advantage of accelerated class schedules with a variety of start dates in many degree programs. Current teachers can earn a master’s degree in education in as little as 18 months with classes offered in five-week sessions. Bachelor’s degree programs offered through Academic Partnerships include the bachelor of science in criminal justice, bachelor of general studies and bachelor of applied arts and sciences (BAAS), which allows students to earn experiential credit. Most classes in the bachelor’s degree programs are offered in eight-week sessions. More information is available from LU Online.

Traditional Schedules

Through LU's Division of Distance Learning, students can pursue online courses offered in traditional 15-week semester sessions. These courses allow students to complete any of five bachelor's degree programs – computer science, industrial technology, general studies, applied arts and sciences (BAAS) or RN to bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Two master’s degree programs are available – in nursing and in health promotions. The university also offers a doctorate in education (Ed.D.) online. More information on these programs and courses is available from LU Online or by calling (409) 880-1847.
