Undergraduate students may be admitted as summer transient students if they attend another college in the spring and wish to enroll at Lamar University for the summer only with the intent of returning to their degree-granting institution in the fall. Academic advisement is the responsibility of the student. Summer transient students should consult with their regular academic advisors at their degree-granting institutions prior to enrolling in Lamar University summer classes.

To apply as a summer transient student:

1. Apply for admission through the Apply Texas system and select the Transient Application.

2. Send an official transcript from your current college or university to:

3. Comply with the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), which requires all students attending Texas public colleges or universities to demonstrate their readiness for college-level courses prior to enrollment. Students must provide scores on a TSI-approved placement test (Accuplacer, THEA, ASSET or COMPASS) or evidence of exemption. Verification may include exempting SAT, ACT or TAKS scores, college or university transcripts verifying status or high school transcripts with exempting scores.

 

Before attending on-campus classes, students who are under age 30 must either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet specific criteria for declining a vaccination. For more information on complying with this requirement pursuant to Texas Senate Bill 1107, click here.

Summer transient students who wish to continue their studies at Lamar University beyond the summer must apply for regular admission and must meet all entrance requirements for Lamar University transfer students.
